~Just these few rules—nothing more, nothing less!

Is there a perfect way?

No, there isn't!

In FMF, it's not our mission to frustrate our writers with limiting rules. We urge everyone to spread their wings and reach higher heights. The last thing we would do is formulate barriers to stop your flow.

However, to cut down on the number of future rejections, we genuinely plead for our writers to take into consideration our meticulously curated list to guide their process.

Joining The Loop.

Ensure to follow Passages Through Writing for resource updates. PTW is the resource reservoir specially created for our writers to help their progress. You can be sure to get quality advice, guides, and advice.

Head over to Fascinate Me Fiction and follow up as well. This is the home for not only your stories but also other amazing writers’ stories. This will ensure that you get updates about other stories that might catch your interest. In a community, supporting one another is a goal.

Proofreading and Edits.

Ensure your piece has most of the errors resolved before submission. We understand that it may not sit well with you if your work is being altered immensely. But if the error appears to be quite much, excess correction is inevitable.

Make an effort to get spelling and grammar—especially any inconsistent tense issues—fixed before submitting to FMF.

Images! Pictures! Captions!

We support the use of enough related images in your work to enhance the beauty of the piece.

You can create your pictures using AI, but we also urge you to put in effort while creating those images. We prefer images that aren't totally messed up.

Add proper captions to images with a link leading to the source.

Draft work or Published work?

Submit all stories as a draft, preferably. However, works that have already been published on your own page are fine, as long as they haven’t been published in another Medium publication.

Preferred Story Lengths.

We accept short stories, flash fiction, and serial works. For best results, aim for a 3–7 minute read time per story.

Writing Structure.

Most of the work done here depends on you, but follow the usual style to kickstart every piece: title, subtitle (if there’s one), image. This is mandatory!

Story Labels.

If the fiction is a personal story or real-life experience, writers are required to add the caption 'Based on a true story' at the end of the article; if otherwise, 'fiction' should be added instead.

Story Tags.

Please tag appropriately. Make sure to include the tags Fiction and Fascinate Me Fiction, as well as any other tags relevant to the genre and subject matter of your story. We urge you to make use of ‘5’ tags.

Smut!

Sorry, but it's a no.

However, we do accept subtle erotica to some degree, where it’s a necessary subplot, but when it crosses a line, it will be sent back. Thank you for understanding.

Violence! Abuse! Sexual mentioning.

No inappropriate mentioning such as sex, violence, or abuse, but a little exception for real-life stories aiming to spread awareness and teach a lesson.

We won't accept it for purely entertainment purposes.

Hate! Discrimination! Insensitivity!

Stories based on hate, discrimination, or pieces targeted at a certain group are thoroughly forbidden.

Triggering scenes.

Stories with potential triggering scenes should have a disclaimer at the very top of the piece to warn people.

Promotions.

Any promotion should be done at the end of the article and appropriately.

Artificial intelligence?

If it's not written by a human, we respectfully pass.

Look Out For Our Monthly Prompts.

Fascinate Me Fiction posts monthly prompts, but by no means do you have to follow them. Get inspired somehow and write.

If you do follow the prompts, please tag or include a link to the prompt page at the end of your story. Just copy and paste the prompt page URL to the bottom of your story, then press ENTER. This helps increase pub visibility, which translates to more visibility for all of us.
