Career advice from a computer coder
Note from the editor

I’ve been working on computers for a living since the early 90s. I have worked for myself, in a partnership, for consulting companies, startups, universities and fortune 500 companies. I have experienced a lot of challenges and success over the course of 25+ career. This publication focuses on the many thoughts I have for people who have questions about how to navigate a career as a coder. Currently I am a site reliability engineer with Stack Overflow. I started using Linux in 94. I have a CompSci degree. I been an advocate of Open Source software for a couple of decades. I enjoy programming and automation. I started using configuration managements such as CFengine in the early 2000s. My current focus is in automation for Stack Overflow Enterprise.
