THE IMPORTANCE OF A MORNING ROUTINE.

To live a great life, you must have your mornings right. I will share my experience and why I believe in the importance of a morning routine.

“Morning is an important time of day, because how you spend your morning often tells you what kind of day you are going to have” — Daniel Handler

The importance of a morning routine

Setting your foundations for a strong day will lead you to better habits and in time to a better life. Thus, how you start your days consistently, determines the quality of your life.

It is because what I mentioned above that is so valuable that you understand the importance of a morning routine and act for making it a habit, from which you can put yourself in a strong, positive mind frame that will allow you to prepare for whatever the day throws at you.

You must be thinking: why the morning and not any other moment of the day? because the early hours of the morning are the best time to think without distraction.

My own experience

I’ve been applying this morning routine structure for approximately a year:

1. As soon as I wake up, I write three things that I am grateful for of my previous day. I believe that nothing in this world can put us in a stronger and clearer state of mind that starting our days with gratitude.

2. Right after finishing writing my grateful diary, I meditate. There are great app’s available, such as Headspace, that can help you learn how to meditate and motivate you throughout that journey. The reason meditation is important to me is because it clears my mind and teaches me to appreciate and live in the present moment.

3. Stretch my body for five minutes, to wake it up and release muscle tensions. During this time, I also check my calendar and review my goals and intentions for the day.

Those are the habits that I have developed over time, they work very good for me, I love my results! In fact, they are a priority, because I feel incomplete when I cannot make them starting my day.

Ask yourself: what works for me?

It is completely normal that my habits do not work for you, we are all different. My invitation is that you try as much exercises as you can and choose the ones that you like the most (practice affirmations, walk, read self-development material, pray…), the important thing is that you feel good with it.

In summary, I advise you to build a strong and consistent foundation early in the morning that set you up for an amazing day, that will eventually lead to a better life.

With love and passion for helping you grow,

Daniel.
