Bear in mind that while we’re stemming this research from the roots of Ireland, the banshee often characterizes all across the world. The thought of a wailing spirit woman isn’t uncommon, often floating across sea and land in search of other souls to swallow.

What Many Do Not Know Is That the Banshee Also Does Arrive in Stride With Another: the Headless Horseman

Infamous Irish lore does say that often times the banshee tends to ride alongside the Dullahan for the same reason: to foretell the death of one human, and bring that soul to the underworld.

It was even said that the banshee doesn’t fly alongside, but sits beside the horseman, helping steer the six black demon horses with a human spinal cord as a whip.

Not that the banshee needed any help with terror. Most other legends had her wreaking havoc all on her own given her freakish wail in the night: they often say if you heard that scream three times, it would mean someone would be dying very soon.
