It is time for another Poetry Playground Prompt! After last week’s prompt which received some brilliant responses, this week we have a theme and a form.

I looked out my window for inspiration for this week’s prompt.

I live in the UK, where the weather is, as we say, changeable. Yesterday was twenty-two degrees Celsius, with stunning blue skies. Today, the sky is a dull, pale grey and the temperature isn’t hitting fifteen. As the weather changes so often it is a stereotypically common thing to talk about with strangers. When paying at the till, an exchange about the weather is common. If you get to talking with someone on a train, the weather is likely the starting topic.

This week’s theme is weather. You might like to talk about sunny days, or use a storm as a metaphor. You could describe the beauty of snow-capped mountains or the terror you feel when you hear thunder.

Alongside this week’s theme, I invite you to choose a form for your poem. It can be any recognised form. Anthea Jones is loving limericks at the moment. CJ Coop is becoming a master of the sonnet. I…
