New Guidance: Include a link to a poem by another Poetry Playground author that you’ve clapped and commented on in your story. This is a Playground where we support each other, and this will help everyone.

It is time for another Poetry Playground Prompt! Last week’s prompt received an incredible amount of stunning responses. This week we have a form prompt.

Our form prompts have been popular, and it has been an opportunity for writers to try something new. Our Zeno prompt was an example.

This week we are using a form that Jason Edmunds writes brilliantly: the tanka.

Jason uses a Tanka chain here:

Jason’s explanation of a Tanka is eloquent:

A Tanka poem has 5 lines with a 5 | 7 | 5 | 7 | 7 syllable count per line. My poem consists of three Tanka poems as stanzas.
