My Heart Died In September

An Autumn poem

Just like September
Kills the leaves on the trees
You murder my heart
And bring me to my knees
Nothing again will ever feel nice
Bury my sorrows in pumpkin spice

This happy little poem was inspired by the research I did for a story I wrote about September songs.

I was searching for happy-sounding September songs to write about, but there aren’t a lot of them. Most of the ones I found were very depressing. The common somber theme in them being the association of broken hearts with the chilly and dark Fall season.

Hence my poem…which could easily be transformed into a song.

So, if you’re a musician who is looking for a depressing September song to record, please get in contact with me and we’ll work something out. Maybe we can make some big $$$ together!
