[Wanchain] Week 5 WNS Update
Last week in our WNS update, we talked about the 3 components behind the WNS (Wanchain Name Service) deployment (read week 4 WNS update). For this week’s update, we would like to talk about some of the development progress related to WNS, which will focus on 3 different parts: (i) WNS explorer, (ii) Wanchain Testnet Faucet, and (iii) Wanchain iOS wallet.
WNS Explorer
At current stage, Wanchain Name Service has been successfully deployed and is operable on the Wanchain mainnet. Nonetheless, unlike Ethereum Name Service (ENS), WNS lacks surrounding products or tools that can support its feature. For instance, users will find it hard to retrieve any WNS-related information such as the owner, the winning bid, resolver address and more, where in the case of Ethereum, users can simply typed in the ENS address at Etherscan.
As result, even if a user bid for a WNS address, there is no way to check if they really own the address.
To close this information gap, we have released a WNS explorer tool for the community. Users can now easily look up WNS address and retrieve related information instantly and be ensured about which names they have actually acquired.
Wanchain iOS Wallet
To continue with our last update on Wanchain iOS wallet (read last update), we are adding a function that allows injection of Web3 into our mobile application. This means that when users are loading a webpage, our mobile app will provide a Wanchain provider and Web3 for the web page to use, allowing various Wanchain dapps to run on our mobile app in the future.
Additionally, we have improved our UI and fixed some minor bugs:
- Cannot clear failed bids in transaction history
- Color changed for failed bids
- ‘Bid Status’ display change
Wanchain Testnet Faucet
We are also excited to announce that we are soon to release our development faucet for Wanchain developers. Testnet token is essential for blockchain developers to test various transaction and deployment in the test environment, but it is often burdensome for developers to claim these tokens as the procedure involves different requirements and limits.
Portal Network believes development environment for blockchain could be enhanced in many different ways, and with our testnet faucet, developers could surely have easier access to try out various blockchain protocols. Wanchain test token will be added for our next update.
