We know your reputation as an artist is central to your career success. We understand that when your audience has a better understanding and appreciation of the link between you and your work it adds value. And we know that business admin takes time away from your real work of creating art.

A simple, user-friendly portfolio

First things first. We know that if your artwork doesn’t look great on Imprimo, you won’t be interested in anything else we have to say. Imprimo was designed for artists in consultation with artists. Our platform is clean and simple to ensure your artwork takes the spotlight. Images display in their true orientation, both in your artist profile and on our homepage.

To make it easy to get settled in, we offer integration with image banks (currently Copyright Visual Arts with more to come) for bulk uploading options of images and metadata.

Our interface is very user-friendly: just fill in the blanks!

Your career as a web
Through years or decades of creative work, your career has developed as a web of achievements with you at the centre. Your works are connected to one another via funding, artist residencies or exhibitions. This web is, like your work, visual — difficult to capture chronologically as text in a traditional CV.

With Imprimo’s unique take on the artist CV you can show your career in a different light. Visitors to your profile can follow pathways in and out of your CV with links directly to detailed artwork records. The CV automatically updates as you create or amend records elsewhere on your profile, cutting down on admin for you too.

Fitting in with your schedule
With years of professional experience behind you, we understand you have a mountain of work records and achievements to share. You can add to your Imprimo profile in stages over time, publishing artwork records and adding to your profile and Timelines as it fits with your needs and schedule. Start with key pieces from recent shows and build your profile from there.

Telling your story
For each artwork record, you can add a Timeline and creation story. These allow you to add photos of your studio, your process, installation shots from exhibitions, or media coverage to your artworks. It tracks the journey of a piece from early inspiration to current location. But it does another important job, too. Storytelling about your creative process adds value by publicly reinforcing the link between you and your original work.

QR codes for each artwork can be downloaded and displayed alongside your physical piece, to lead viewers directly to your Imprimo profile to learn more.

A public record of your rights

Pilgrimage to Cythera, (A Theory of the Leisure Class workset) by Grant McConnell

Imprimo uses blockchain to create an unalterable public record of your claim to your work. This adds security for you by deterring bad actors and providing evidence of misattribution. It adds value by giving confidence to anybody interested in your art that the connection between you and your work is genuine.

Preparing your catalogue for the future of the internet
As reliance on the online space increases, abuse of copyright is changing. We leverage emerging technology to register your claim to your work and to produce professional certificates of creation and digital signatures. (Fun fact about our blockchain use here.)

These public records of your work are helpful to the people you interact with in your career, too. Gallerists and curators tell us that access to verified information about artworks and artists adds value, creates opportunities for artists, and saves time.

Cost

After a free trial, an Imprimo subscription is $8.99 per month. Some established artists have told us they can see their Imprimo profile replacing their website.

Building the platform that works for you

We’re new, and we are continually working behind-the-scenes to add features and improve our value to you. Artists have been and will continue to be central to our discussions about where we’re going next. Subscribing to Imprimo will give you an opportunity to help shape the platform that you would like to use — that can most benefit you and your career.

We’re currently building tools such as additional privacy controls and more sophisticated collection management options. We’d love to hear from you what else you’d like to see.
