Violet Poetry Writing Challenge

Greetings PW writers and readers! I have an exciting Call-To-Action for all the bards among us! Grab a drink at the bar and have a listen.

Our very own Roselyn Violet has created a poetry writing competition! Isn’t that exciting? It is her way of giving back to everyone who has been gracious enough to read her work since she joined Medium.

This is not a contest. It is not a competition. The prize will be for Roselyn Violet and everyone to be able to read a gorgeous poem by YOU on the theme of the challenge.

So what is this challenge all about? I will let Roselyn explain it in her own words:

When I think about the color violet, it symbolizes creativity, wisdom, dignity, magnificence, devotion, peace, pride, mystery, independence, and magic. And that’s what I exactly want this challenge to be about: for people from all around the planet and beyond to write poems on such ‘violety’ topics. I want y’all to write, write, write, write, and write.

She does have a couple of rules, so please go read her invitation here:

She has also listed numerous publications that will accept your poems. I would like to extend that invitation to Promptly Written if you are not a writer for any of these pubs:

Blue Insights, The Brain is a Noodle, New Writers Welcome, Coffee Times, Lifeline, Be Open, iPoetry, The POM, The Lark, Rainbow Salad, Writer’s Blokke, Counter Arts, Moon Light Confessions and Illumination.

If you do choose to publish your poem in PW, please use “Violet Poetry Challenge” as a subtitle so I will know it is for Roselyn Violet’s challenge. I will be creating a FEATURED spot on PW to host the poems.

Remember to mention Roselyn Violet at the end of your poem(s) and use the “Violet Poetry” tag so she can find and read your work. Remember, sharing is caring, so tag some of your friends who may want to join in!

Much love & blessings to you all
~Ravyne Hawke, EIC
