Ryan Reynolds Is My Surgeon?
Gratitude Journal — Day 16
Well, not really, but from his nose up to the top of his head (he was wearing a mask), he sure resembles Ryan Reynolds a lot! And because I secretly have a crush on Ryan, sitting and talking to the surgeon today put me at ease about the upcoming surgery. I also observed other things about him. He has a firm handshake, steady hands, and confidence. Not an egotistical confidence, but an easy, laidback kind of confidence.
He discussed the three options that were available for me, weighing all the odds and stroke potentials. I could tell immediately which option he was the most familiar with and had the most faith in its success — the removal of the plaque built up in my carotid artery. He spoke about the surgery for it with so much passion. He’d clearly done quite a few of these. Turns out, hundreds of them.
I will admit I was a nervous wreck waiting for him to show up and discuss this surgery with me. Thankfully, my anxiety didn’t affect my blood pressure this time, it was ‘normal’ for me. So by the time we’d set the surgery date and said our goodbyes, I was completely at ease and grateful beyond measure. I left the office thinking, Wow, Ryan Reynolds is my surgeon! And had a good chuckle.
