The Memories of a Summer Rain
Prompt Poetry

The scent of dirt, all drenched and mucky
The pent up air that’s damp and stuffy
The din of rainfall — plopping, plunking
On skin and clothing, hot and muggy
Each breath drawn in with moisture leaden
Each sodden drop festoons the day, when…
— All at once, loud torrent ceases
The sultry lull gently increases
Wetness rests, the steeped earth swells
The silence — noisy, heavens — quelled
The air — still moist, replete, and tepid
To golden dew and sun indebted
