The Monkey Mind Is Relentless
If I choose to focus on work, the monkey mind worries me that I’m not spending time with family. If I’m spending time with family, then the monkey mind guilts me that I’m missing productivity. When I have a full weekend to write, my monkey mind tells me I need a creative break. When my schedule is full, my monkey mind is full of writing ideas that I cannot capture.
Getting To Know My Monkey Mind
As the countdown to yoga approaches, my monkey mind tells me how much I could accomplish if were to stay and work.
The monkey mind speaks in first person, and it will reason with me saying something like ‘I only go to yoga when I’m not able to work productively. Therefore, because I am working productively, I may as well skip yoga and get more done.’
