Time to Move on
A free verse poem
Published in
Feb 6, 2022
A single leaf fluttered
past the broken window,
a signal to commence
with moving on —
sweep the broken glass
with efficient motions
to proclaim to the world:
I’m over it.
The song of laughter
will play again
on your favorite f.m. station
and you’ll toss
your hair with a glossy smile
and a wink, to tell
your daughter how
every man is a
mirror of the soul.
Author’s Note: Christine Graves gave us so many good prompts this week, that I just couldn’t pace myself. I packed three of them into this poem.
