DDoes it feel to anyone else like we might be starting to find a sense of routine in all of this? Here in California, we’ve been sheltered (part of it voluntarily) for nearly six weeks. I guess it takes about that long to try to find a rhythm.

This week’s stories sure have no problem finding the beat, though. We kicked the week off with an essay in a new series we’re calling “Quick & Dirty” — shorter essays that tackle topics a la flash. Kelsey Swintek brings us “Friday, Or, You Just Wanted to Sleep”:

“You tell yourself that you’re just going to go home and sleep but really you get some drinks with friends after work and say ‘fuck it’ and you end up at Niagara. Or some other Lower East Side shithole where you wait for the coming of Christ until the bartender finally serves you. You hardly notice or care because you’re pretty drunk already.”
