There is an increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) in nearly every field, including art, e-commerce, voice assistants, and health care services. Content creation is another field where the use of AI is growing. So much so that ChatGPT has become one of the most talked about events since the first days of 2023.

Even though AI-based platforms are often seen as playgrounds, they are also used in content marketing. AI’s use in content creation has sparked new discussions.

  • “Is AI-generated content within the scope of plagiarism?”
  • How will search engines approach AI-generated content?”
  • If we are using AI to create content, should we lower the price of content?

These discussions seem to continue for a while. Therefore, in this newsletter, we will focus more on the topic of “should the use of AI lower the price of content?”. Let’s take a closer look at the effects of this new technology.

How is AI affecting the content creation process?

First of all, we have to say that there is no situation where the use of AI has shortened content creation time incredibly, at least not yet.

Yes, we can create following with AI:

  • Blog topics,
  • Outlines,
  • Paragraphs,
  • Lists,
  • Make your sentences shorter or longer, and much more in minutes.

However, all of these need to be scrutinized, edited, and modified.

The AI may also not even present you with a successful result the first time, so you may have to try again and again. For this reason, it is currently not possible to create content in minutes using AI without the need for editing.

Let’s consider platforms you can use to create content such as Jasper, ChatGPT, and Notion AI. Almost all of the results these platforms give need editing. But at the same time, the tools they offer allow you to make changes in less time.

These platforms can offer you an idea, a sentence suitable for your paragraph, a summary of an article, or an answer to a question in a short time.

These results help you add to your content and make it better. This is why AI also provides speed and efficiency, even if it does not directly create your content.

Should the use of AI lower the price of content?

The use of AI makes your content creation process easier due to the features we mentioned.

This raises the discussion that the price per content should be lowered to reflect the reduction in labor costs.

But on the other hand, it’s not possible to determine the value of a piece of content based solely on the time it takes to create it. There are many factors to consider when creating content.

For example, you need to

  • support your content with reliable sources,
  • use language appropriate for your target audience, and
  • show your creativity most of the time.

Let’s take ChatGPT as an example, it cannot be aware of the events that took place after 2021. Moreover, it can still give inaccurate answers.

In this case, we can’t create content on a current topic from beginning to end with ChatGPT. However, it can still provide answers to many questions that can help you while creating your content.

Both search engines and, more importantly, the audience favor high-quality, well-crafted, and genuinely helpful content. And AI is not there.
