It is an exciting moment to be a renewable energy engineer in the moment, as the global energy transition is accelerating. However, there are still some key questions needed to be answer before a 100% renewable energy system is available worldwide, and not all the places worldwide share the same pace of transition. Therefore, the editors of this publisher asks renewable energy students worldwide to cover related topics in their homeland, and give back precious insights on how to make the transition as fast as possible. Our main questions of interest: What do we need to speed up the global energy transition? How would an energy system supported with 100% renewables look like? What does energy democracy mean during the transition?
