10 Ways To Help Women In Your Life Feel Better On Her Period.
I am on my 4th day of the period while writing this blog.
I was having a hard time the day before my period, both emotionally and physically.
I am having headaches. My legs were swelling. My eyes were burning. It hurts during bowel moments. Period cramp does not just only involve lower belly aches but also includes breast, legs and butt. I really need more heat during the first couple of days of the period. I need warm blankets, a hot water bag, warm drinking water and food more than anything on my period.
Menstrual time period and pain varies from woman to woman.
So here’s the list of ways to take care of the women in your life.
- Be there emotionally: Lend your ears to empathise and understand and validate her feelings and concerns.
- Give her comfort: She will be thankful for your thoughtfulness, with pads, blankets, a heating pad, and a hot water bottle.
- Create a comfortable environment to rest: It will comfort her to see you prioritize her well-being over anything. Fatigue, PMs, Butt Cramps, stomach Cramp, Leg Cramps, Soar Breasts, and all those other kinds of illness is common during the period. Although it depends on person to person. You need to allow her to take time for rest and relaxation.
- Do Household Course: More often, women tend to do all the work despite not feeling well. Ask her to take a few days off from household tasks that are physically demanding. It will minimize the fatigue or anxiety she may experience.
- Give her a massage: It will assist in relieving muscle tension and reduce menstrual cramps. Especially on the lower back, abdomen, legs, etc.
- Cook her favourite meal: It will be the best way to lift her spirit, enrich her mood and give her the nutrition she needed.
- Give her medicines (if needed): It is better to avoid medicines if the main is tolerable. If not, provide her with the recommended dosage of pain reliever after consulting a healthcare professional.
- Make sure she’s hydrated: Hydration minimizes bloating and other symptoms. Hot water and herbal tea are recommended.
- Make her laugh: Watch movies, tell her jokes, play fun games, take her out for fresh air, and do some acting. It’s one of the best ways to distract her from her discomfort.
- Shower her love and kindness: Offering warm hugs, sweet kisses, complimenting her, or just showing gratitude will boost her mood. She will feel loved. She needs it the most.
Every woman is different. Therefore, It would be better to communicate with her about how she likes to be supported and taken care of.
A simple gesture like asking, “Do you want to rest for a bit” or “Would you mind watching a movie together or playing some fun game” will give you a giant hint about what she wants the most.
I know guys don’t know how period feels, but you guys can still show some love cause you’ve read somewhere that it’s hard and painful. Or you may have seen some women having a hard time because of it.
Be attentive and responsive to her needs. It’s the summary statement of this whole blog.
