a: to rescue from an undesirable state; also : to restore to a previous natural state. In 2016, on the cusp of 35 and after a two week vacation, my wife and I were sitting in traffic on 34th street in Manhattan. Even with our faces still sun soaked and the salt water haze not quite rinsed from our car, the last two weeks spent on Matunuck Beach, in the south county of Rhode Island felt like a distant memory. Not even 48 hours had passed and we had been absorbed back into the vortex of Manhattan. I looked at my wife, and said, “what are we even doing?, why do we do this?” The answer to this question has turned into a year long journey, to sell the house we love, quit our city jobs and reclaim our lives. This publication is a product this journey.
