Hey Re-inventors

This is Day 11 of the series 30 DAYS OF DOING THINGS THAT I WAS ‘GONNA’ DO

Saying No is one of the most difficult things in life for me

I’d rather accept the request of the person and then keep thinking about how I could have used that time to work, than saying NO

I hope no one has to be in that situation, but that’s not possible. We are surrounded by people who have a lot of requests and favors for us to do but in return, they give nothing.

I have experienced a lot of these situations and I have even written a whole article on this topic → To Say No or To Say Yes

I know all the tips on how to deal with it, but I still suck at it. Implementing these tips has worked for me when the matter is related to friends and acquaintances . But the main struggle lies in convincing family and close friends WITHOUT disappointing them

For example, today was a huge event that was to be attended by 500 to 600 people for which I applied. I got a call yesterday regarding the event and it was to be held at a place 1.5 hours away from my home and will continue for 4 hours. If I would have gone, I would have wasted 7 hours.

My grandma just arrived today morning and going out today didn’t just seem right to me. So I stayed at home to do my work and then spend some time with family. I could have build some contacts in that workshop and met new people but I chose to stay at home.

Saying No to the people conducting the workshop was easy because I didn’t know them well. But if I had to go for the workshop, saying NO to the family time would have been difficult for me.

You get the struggle, right?

Every choice has a consequence. If you choose work, you’ll miss on family and if you choose family you may miss on important opportunities related to your work.

Anyway guys, if you have any tips on how I could have approached such a situation, please do comment below.

Today’s day was fine but not good. And I say this because too many distractions took me away from work which absolutely irritates me. My focus gets destroyed and I hate that in all circumstances.

I woke up at 6:20 because I slept late yesterday. I started working as soon as possible as I knew my grandma will arrive around 7:00 and then I would have to leave work for some time. That’s exactly what happened, there she was standing at my door at sharp 7:00 am, my happy and smiley grandmother.

I sat with her for some time and then came back to resume my work.

And here is when a series of distraction starts. After breakfast, I had to help dad with his work. That took 30 minutes.

At 1:45 I had a call which was 20 minutes of work and 10 minutes of time waste. At 2:45 I again had a call which was 15 minutes of work and 15 minutes of time waste. I hate such people who keep on talking even when the purpose of the call has been established. And I think I have to become stubborn and assert myself so that I can hang up the call and do my work

The rest of the day pretty much comprised of doing some work and helping Dad in his work. At 7:35, I did my Ab Workout as I didn’t find time to go to the gym today.

I thought of sleeping earlier today to wake up early and let’s see whether that works out tomorrow!

See you guys on DAY 12, if you have any questions or find something in this article that resonates with you, comment below. You never know when other people also gain valuable information from your question!

Be happy and keep Re-inventing yourself to become a better person!
