We are what we repeatedly do. I’m re-inventing myself by improving in 15 areas at a time.

This post is part of my Re Human project.

Daily Habits

Books: Finished listening to Expert Secrets. Went back to listening to Red Rising for some time. Also went back to listen to The Master Switch. Some notes from today:

“It’s kinda like” is great to introduce metaphors.

Epiphany bridge: craft a path that makes people come up with the answer you’re selling them.

What’s your number one question about X? -> after lots of responses, these are the module titles for your class about X.

In the 1970s, even porn films went through theatrical releases. In 1972, film “Deep Throat” made the same amount of money as a Hollywood blockbuster.

Meditation: did 15minutes in the morning.

Digital Drawing: Continued drawing from the Gal Shir Melody video.

Re Human Extended Activity: On Fridays I usually do Graphic Design in the afternoon. Today I did Graphic Design throughout my day — we’re building a new product (startup) so at the beginning lots of designs are needed and useful.

In the afternoon I focused on Digital Drawing, since I hadn’t taken a longer dive into it since I made it into a small daily habit instead of an extended activity.

I got this course on a huge discount on Udemy (they give those discounts all the time so I would not recommend getting any course there on its full price) and watched the first 15 video lessons

Here’s a couple of notes I took that were my main takeaways from the videos I saw today:

three different proportions for how drawings are A. Thought of, B. Implemented, and C. Perceived.

Art Studies: focusing on observing, experimenting, and exercises for learning.

Art Creation: creating a piece of art.

The emotional impact is very important — not only technical skill.

A piece of art that is Believable outweighs a piece of art that is Realistic.

Imaginative art requires lots of theory/foundations and is harder than Observational art.

Writing: This post and work on my 2018 recap post. daily thoughts.

Piano: Today I went back to practicing comptine d’un autre été.

Fitness: Today my friend Nick Hunter, who’s an amazing gymnast (was the captain of the UMichigan gymnastics team) helped me with my handstand push ups. He had incredible corrections, observations, and tips. So high leverage to have experts teach you things. Also trained my biceps, muscle ups, and burpees.

Soccer trick juggling: Practiced the hop the world trick and around the world.

Random Surprise

Interesting thought from an article a friend wrote:

If augmented reality glasses are going to be labeling what we see, then these labels will probably be generated in one or two major languages (like English or Mandarin) and then translated to other languages (like Spanish). Since there are so many cultural ideas and connotations to specific words/phrasings, many ideas and observations from different cultures will be lost in translation.
