Re-inventing ourselves is the most important skill nowadays. I’m re-inventing myself by improving in 15 areas at a time. This post is part of my Re Human project.

Daily Habits

Books: I’ve been listening to The Selfish Gene. Some notes from today:

Genes don’t plan, they just are.

One of the better ways of predicting the future is through simulation.

Entities that are good at predicting the future have higher chance of surviving.

Maybe an entity gets Consciousness when its idea simulation of the world is so complete that it includes a model for itself .

Writing: This post, code, and a daily thought.

Re Human Extended Activity: Saturdays is Digital Drawing and Painting and Music Production.

Digital Drawing and Painting

Spent time drawing several versions of that Compass
And finding/choosing other pictures I’ve taken of boats that could fit well.

Music Production

Spent time reading a couple of articles — on “creating melodies” (this one was actually pretty interesting), creating “grooves /drum beats”, and music theory in general. And then trying to apply those concepts.

Fitness: My warmup and human flag and handstand practice.

Meditation: 20mins in the morning.

Piano: Today while learning La La Land’s Sebastian and Mia’s theme, I tried Flowkey’s other “modes” apart from their “wait” mode — basically just fast or slow mode, so you can see how you’re supposed to play the song in slow/fast mode (I think this could be useful for harder pieces where there’s a wild movement of fingers or hands across the keys).

Soccer trick juggling: Got two around the worlds without the ball falling in between but it was because the walls helped me.

Connections, takeaways and Ideas for tomorrow

“Orthogonal thinking draws from a variety of, and perhaps seemingly unrelated, perspectives to achieve new insights. It is the even momentary blurring of boundaries to see what might emerge.” — some note that I had taken sometime ago about orthogonal thinking.
