We are what we repeatedly do. I’m re-inventing myself by improving in 15 areas at a time. This post is part of my Re Human project.

Daily Habits

Books: Today I continued listening to How to Measure Anything and to The Mind Illuminated. Some notes from today:

Samatha has 5 characteristics: Effortlessly stable attention (samadhi), Powerful Mindfulness: sati, Joy, Tranquility, Equanimity.

5 main experiential insights from Vipassana: Impermanence, Emptiness, Nature of suffering, Causal interdependence of all phenomena, No self

Meditation: 10 minutes in the afternoon, 10 minutes at night.

Re Human Extended Activity: Today I improved at Salsa Dancing.

I’m not in SF so didn’t go to the usual class I’ve been going.

So today I spent time watching several Salsa videos, and reading articles on “how to become a better Salsa Dancer” or similar type but videos (wasn’t that useful). Also watched a professional competition videos and it was pretty wild.

Today it was 2 of my friend’s birthdays and we went to my friend’s boat. We danced there, but it wasn’t salsa.

Writing: This post, code, and a daily thought.

Digital Drawing & Painting:

Continued the Melody Gal Shir drawing:

This is how I want it to look:

Fitness: Today I trained push ups and handstand push ups. Also swam in the ocean for a bit, a couple of times between my friend’s boat and a nearby dock.

Piano: Practiced the La La Land song. And my little brother taught me the basic parts of Fur Elise and the Harry Potter song!

Soccer trick juggling: Today I watched videos on tips for freestyle tricks. I watched one on around the world, again (3rd time), and I’m so surprised that each video (from different youtubers) explains it in different ways and with a different approach. Watched one on “150+ soccer tricks/skills”, so I could get ideas on what I want to learn and practice next. “Hop the world” seems like an easy one I could be able to get fast.

Random Surprise

A quote that my Anthropologist girlfriend really likes, and I like too:

“We are constituted in relationality: implicated, beholden, derived, and sustained by a social world that is beyond us and before us”
