Breakpoint 2023 was an action packed week for the Render Network. For those that were not able to attend in person in Amsterdam, or view the livestreams, we’d like to give a recap of all the news that was shared throughout the week and featured during Render Network’s Main Stage presentation (If you’d like to watch the presentation in full, you can at the link here).

High-level updates, project advancements and more, this is Breakpoint 2023, recapped:

The Render Network, Now on Solana

The Render Network is officially live on the Solana blockchain, in one of the biggest network upgrades since the network’s mainnet launch. As announced in the video above, the Render Network has launched its new SPL based token, “RENDER”, and with this launch comes 1.14m in RENDER incentives for early upgraders to the new token, and an additional 1.14m in RENDER in liquidity pool rewards. More information can be found in the Foundation press release below:

The announced Render Network Upgrade Portal is live at upgrade.rendernetwork.com - and instructions for completing your RNDR to RENDER upgrades can be found at the Knowledge Base article linked here (note: please be careful about impersonation accounts and websites).

With this release of the RENDER token on Solana, the previously voted BME initiative in RNP-001 is expected to be deployed in the coming weeks, at which point emissions will commence on Solana. Please follow along with Render Network and Foundation socials for more info as it is released.

Expanding the Network via New Compute Clients

If you’ve been following Render Network news the last few months, you may know that the Network has expanded its use-cases and brought on a Compute Client for AI related work in io.net, who presented themselves at the conference.

Currently, a final RNP-005 vote is live on the addition of a second compute client, BEAM, to the Network. It can be viewed and voted on below:

For those that would like to participate in being a part of the continued expansion of the Render Network, leading the line of decentralized AI, you can signup at the open waitlist to have your GPUs added to the Compute Client pools at the Render Network Foundation site here.

The Render Network Foundation has committed to distributing 300K of the 1.14M total RENDER in incentives by December 31st as incentives for new GPU node operators joining as Compute Clients.

Foundation Grants

Announced earlier in the year, the Render Foundation Grant program announced it’s first class of grant recipients during this year’s presentation, with Justin Bodnar (Top left), Stan Barten (Bottom Left), Kyle Gordon (Bottom Middle), Gilles Augustijnen (Top Middle), FVCKRENDER (Top Right), and Annibale Siconolfi (Bottom Right) making up the first class.

We’d like to congratulate this first group of grant recipients and the amazing work they’ve produced. If you would like to apply for the next round of Foundation grants, the Grant program is open at renderfoundation.com/grants. Go there to apply for a community grant.

Support Across the Digital Media Ecosystem

Render Network has not only continued to support all major plugins through Octane, but has expanded its offering directly on the Network itself and now Blender (the fastest growing open-source 3D ecosystem).

This all comes in addition to users being able to use the Render Network’s massively parallel GPU nodes — through Octane X and its Render Network integration — from high performance M1, M2 and M3 series Apple chips. This is alongside rapid updates to support the latest NVIDIA drivers, keeps the Render Network as supporting the bleeding edge of GPU technology.

A Stunning Showcase

The Render Network’s scope has touched nearly everything across the worlds of entertainment in the last year, which was highlighted in the 2023 showcase real, which featured work from:

Pudgy Penguins
Lil’ Nas X’s “Montero” Tour
Bungie’s “Marathon” game trailer
NASA’s 2023 Sciencecast
and the animations for Breakpoint 2023 itself.

We’d like to thank every creator who’s work was featured in this year’s showcase reel, and highly recommend watching it in the video above.

2023 Network Metrics

Rounding out the slew of announcements, Trevor highlighted some of the impressive data from the last year of the Render Network. During just the last year-to-date, over 9m frames were rendered across 200k+ jobs, accounting for ~39% of the total number of frames rendered on the Network all-time.

Just over the course of September 2023 to October 2023, Node Operators saw a 75% increase in the amount of RNDR paid out. This robust growth can be attributed to a number of factors, including a significant diversification in work done on the Network. In October, Spatial Rendering work, large scale projection mapping for the Las Vegas Sphere, XR work through the XR Pro and Light Field renderings have started getting on processed on the Network — setting the stage for expansion of the network to new forms of rendering through year end.

Multi-Render

Finally, for all current users, a long-time desire was announced as having to come to life: through the partnership with Maxon, C4D direct uploads have now gone live on the Render Network. Users of one of the most popular plugins for Octane can now upload their files to the Render Network without converting to ORBX.

Alongside this monumental update, Redshift on the Render Network is now in a closed Beta, with an eye on release in the coming future.

We want to thank you, the Render Network users, for helping to bring the Network to new heights over the last year.
