When a song comes on that reminds you of someone in a loving way does it also remind you of yourself? It should — shouldn’t it?

This is what people mean by romanticizing your life — not the materialistic aesthetics or the melancholy music playing in the background, it is the same loving feeling towards yourself that you would show to someone else who you love dearly, the purity of it, the completeness of it.

It is the little moments you spend with yourself that become a core part of your memory which will play in your mind like a movie clip in the back of your mind when someone asks you to imagine peace or happy or CONTENT. Because that is what self-love is — being content in you. But that we knew already right?

We tend to forget though or rather not know how to be because of the varying scales of distractions and/or society for some. For some others it’s different — uncomfortable might I say is the right feeling. It is the annoyance one would feel or in today’s language it is called staying in your head.

Whatever the relation type — I argue being with yourself and for yourself at the end of the day should be hyped up more often since truth is inevitable — you cannot hide from yourself.

I still hold onto the lyrics of “Be Kind” by Halsey and Marshmellow. While it’s a song directed at addressing a significant other, its message should also envelop us in a warm embrace of self-love.

Why do you hide from the one, close your eyes to the one, mess up and lie to the one, when you know you can cry to the one, always confide in the one, you can be kind to the one that you love ❤.

- Cause you are the one and the one is you. Be Kind to yourself.
