The past two weeks have been a whirlwind for our team members who took off on an Asian Roadshow through Seoul, Ho Chi Minh City, and Singapore for Asia Blockchain Week. Highlights of the trip included hosting our first RightMesh meetup in Ho Chi Minh City and another in Singapore which we co-hosted with Bluzelle and Wala. We even announced a partnership with Bluzelle, bringing our technologies together to seamlessly provide a decentralized platform providing connectivity and database storage for Dapps. We are excited that, in conjunction the with final two posts of the RightMesh Roadmap: Multiple Superpeers Series and the launch of an “expression of interest” page, sign-ups for interest in participating in our Soft Soft Mainnet Launch are now rolling in!

RightMesh and Bluzelle partner to support decentralized internet

This week it was announced that RightMesh’s mobile mesh networking and Bluzelle’s swarm storage, both vital components for this future, will combine to seamlessly provide a decentralized platform providing connectivity and database storage for Dapps.

As a proof of concept, RightMesh will be integrating Bluzelle’s swarm storage into some in-house developed apps.

The first RightMesh app to integrate Bluzelle’s swarm storage will be an app distribution and updating app. “Updating of apps is an immense problem in developing countries and areas without connectivity,” explains Lyotier of RightMesh, adding the example that only one of five WhatsApp users is ever on the most recent version. “The use of swarm storage with RightMesh will create a decentralized platform for apps to be updated for the betterment of many. Once this has been proven, we can expand the combined solutions for all dApp developers to integrate.”

  • MeshIM: We are working closely with our team in Bangladesh on the MeshIM revamp to get it ready for the Soft Mainnet Launch. Tasks in progress include decoupling the MeshIM discovery and service logic from the application logic as well as enhancing the overall design and UX of the app.
  • Business Development: Our team has been doing a lot of research on the smart cities, media and entertainment sectors in emerging markets to clearly understand the pain points in their infrastructure. We are working to develop potential solutions using RightMesh.

Soft Mainnet Launch Competition #MoveToMesh

We are launching our Soft Mainnet Launch Competition in Q1 2019, and our “expression of interest” page is now live! Interested community members can now indicate which role(s) they are interested in participating in during the launch.

What is the Soft Mainnet Launch Competition?

The Soft Mainnet Launch Competition is a period of time during which select operators and users can participate in the RightMesh network; however, data packets will use testnet tokens rather than risking tokens on the mainnet. This will allow us the opportunity to test the protocol and to gain valuable community feedback for planning the network before public launch.

One of the main objectives for the competition is to test data network scalability, functionality, payment channels, system assumptions, and profitability in a way which does not risk mainnet tokens being lost. That is why the data packets will be using the testnet tokens.

One large pool of RMESH will be rewarded to Superpeer Operators, and another pool will be rewarded to Data Sharers. These roles will be competing for a share of each pool.

In continuation of his updated Roadmap post, Dr. Jason Ernst released the final posts in his eight-part series on Multiple Superpeers. While most posts focused around the protocol aspects of making Superpeers work, these two posts focus on RMESH and ETH, specifically on how they are provided to end users, how they are managed by Superpeers, and how they will be provisioned and managed during the Soft Mainnet Launch Competition.

For the purpose of the upcoming RightMesh Soft Mainnet Launch Competition, we want to make sure that end-users (Buyers and data Sellers) never need to worry about topping up their Ethereum or RightMesh token balance to participate — we aren’t testing whether people will go through all this trouble at this stage. We do, however, want to ensure people have sufficient tokens to conveniently test the RightMesh network, and drive enough traffic through the Superpeers and the protocol which will give us better resulting data and give the end-users who try RightMesh apps a better experience.

Asia Roadshow

Over the past two weeks, our team has been on a roadshow through Seoul, Ho Chi Minh City, and Singapore for Asia Blockchain Week. The purpose of the trip has been to expand our network in Asia, conduct partnership meetings, and grow our existing communities there.

  • November 20: Seoul 2018
The first stop on the roadshow was the Provenance Summit, Seoul 2018. The conference was focused on development and community with an emphasis on thought leadership, rather than pitching. The event gave us some great connections in South Korea and attracted attendees from across South East Asia and beyond.
  • November 21: Festy Meetup, Seoul
  • November 21st: Community Meetup: Ethereum Mobile UI/UX Research Hosted by Status, Seoul
Our team met some great people at the Status meetup in Seoul. We discussed the approaches they’ve each used to expand their communities.
  • November 23: Humanitarian Applications of Blockchain, hosted by RightMesh, Ho Chi Minh City
We conducted our first RightMesh meetup in Vietnam with the help of some of our Nodebodies from the area. The event started with an overview of RightMesh by our Director of Corporate Strategy, Melissa Quinn and followed by a panel with our Manager of Global Partnerships, Brianna MacNeil, and CEO and Founder of Fashion4Freedom, LanVy Nguyen, on the use of blockchain for supply chains.
  • November 24: Crypto Expo Asia, Ho Chi Minh City
Crypto Expo Asia brought together a crowd who believe the Vietnam blockchain space is on the edge of being the next big thing. Our Director of Corporate Strategy, Melissa Quinn, spoke on ‘The Power of Connectivity’ to an engaged crowd.
While there, we met with some of our existing partners and hosted a number of meetings with Vietnamese project ambassadors.
  • November 26: UCIM Conference, Singapore
  • November 26: Humanitarian Applications, Singapore
Our team hosted a meetup in Singapore featuring RightMesh CEO, John Lyotier, Bluzelle CEO, Pavel Bains, and Wala CEO, Tricia Martinez on the ‘Humanitarian Applications of Blockchain’. Each speaker provided an update on their project developments and participated in a panel discussing the future of the blockchain for social impact space.

  • November 28–29: BlockShow Asia 2018
A highlight of the trip, BlockShow Asia brought together entrepreneurs, investors, talents, traders, developers, startups — all in one place. Our team exhibited at the two-day conference and had a constant line up at our booth — a combination of new and old Nodebodies. The conference led to a number of great meetings and potential collaborations moving forward.
Blockshow also had a number of spin off events, Meetups and networking opportunities that our team attended throughout the week.

  • November 30: SUSS New Token Economy, Singapore
Hosted jointly by the Singapore University of Social Sciences and the Future Law Innovation Programme, ACCESS (Association of Cryptocurrency Enterprises and Startups), Singapore Fintech Association, CAIA Association, and BEST Association, the one day conference brought together many thought leaders within the blockchain space. The conference featured insights and thought-provoking discussions by law practitioners, regulators, and developers on the present and future of the regulatory landscape in the FinTech & blockchain industry.
A highlight was reconnecting with Professor David Lee, an avid supporter of mesh technology and inclusive fintech.
