Brianna mentoring students at SURGE

On April 20th, our Manager of Global Partnerships, Brianna MacNeil, spoke and mentored at SURGE in Cape Town, South Africa. The immersive event taught teens and young people about blockchain technology and how it can play a role in addressing global challenges. Brianna spoke on the state of connectivity and gave an overview of RightMesh after the morning session.

At the beginning of the day, none of the attendees were familiar with blockchain. The group, led by UNICEF and ETH Global, took the students through several exercises to teach them the fundamentals of blockchain and the history of money, set them up with a trust wallet, and had them receive currency from a volunteer in the UK to show the speed of transactions. By mid-day the group described the technology as ‘life changing’.

“It was a truly amazing experience to witness their transition from never having heard about blockchain to realizing the transformative power of the technology.” Brianna said, “They immediately grasped the potential and power of RightMesh and connected with the issues of internet shut downs and affordability issues.’

Our Manager of Global Partnerships, Brianna MacNeil, acted as a mentor to the hackers. Winning projects included a decentralized preference-based voting system, a voice to text job creation tool, and an incentivized p2p streaming application.

TF Blockchain

On April 25th, our CPO, Saju Abraham, spoke at TF Blockchain in Vancouver, Canada on ‘Productizing Blockchain.’ He was joined by Paul Walsh of MetaCert and Layne Lafrance of Axiom Zen. The event was a great opportunity to discuss active use cases and network with other technology executives.
