Poetry has immense power to change the world by giving us new ways to see the world. Poetry and short fiction both reflect and create perspective. What we see and how we see it is a product of our unique worldview, and our singular perspective has the power to focus attention where it matters most. What we see as important, we attend to. We turn our attention toward what we care about. Attention is the thing that shapes our individual world and in turn, creates the world at large. Perspective exists at the nexus between the personal and the cultural. This common ground contains a convergence of ideas that can and will alter our collective consciousness. We explore our passions. We pursue what we consider to be profound. We gain perspective along the way.
