Twenty years after the 8C Competizione first appeared at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show, Alfa Romeo is tugging at our heartstrings again with another limited-run supercar inspired by the Marque’s 1960s classics.
This time, though, Alfa Romeo is playing the nostalgia card all the way, resurrecting the most revered nameplate in its back catalog.
It may be hard to believe now, but the road-going version of the 33 sports racer didn’t do much for Alfa Romeo in the period.
The company had planned a limited series of 50 cars, but Autodelta ultimately built just eighteen Stradale chassis between 1967 and 1969.
Among those, only 13 chassis (2 prototypes and 11 “production” cars) received the voluptuous aluminum body designed by Franco Scaglione, while 5 went to Bertone, Pininfarina, and ItalDesign to serve as a base for a stunning array of show cars.
