#HelloWorld, we’re Team Rockt.
If you’re reading this, you’ve probably heard about the awesome decentralised social trading platform we’re building (if not, see here) and wanted to know who’s behind what. Well, like the platform we are building, our team is also distributed all over the globe!
Rockt was born through a shared frustration of current trading options both inside and outside of the cryptocurrency space. Scott posited the initial idea which quickly evolved, gathered momentum, and started attracting some pretty awesome people who shared the same views! Fabian and Tammy were quick to jump aboard full speed ahead, with Mike, Ömer, and the rest of the team following shortly after.
The team decided to do the only logical thing; they got jumped in an Uber, and hired the closest Airbnb with a garage (Which will henceforth be known as “The Dungeon”) where they locked themselves inside until they figured out a solution.
Well, almost… Our team lives on 4 different continents, in 8 different cities and we speak 12 different languages. So, as you might expect, it’s not quite as simple as that! :) As a totally remote company we’ve had to become adaptable and use many awesome tools such as Slack and Trello to communicate and collaborate on Rockt. Thanks to tools like these, we are able to collaborate as a team, even though we’re based all over the world.
So, let’s talk about who’s who, doing what and where.
Scott Waddell — Founder
Scott is our founder and CEO. He’s an experienced and goal-oriented professional with over 10 years of management & strategy consulting experience. In that time, he’s built a proven track record of success in investments and founded a profitable consulting business. Prior to founding Rockt, Scott held various management positions at IBM, Accenture & Telecom New Zealand. Scott has studied International Business at the University of Sydney, is certified in Lean Six Sigma process improvement, and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Massey University.
Originally from New Zealand, now he lives in Melbourne, Australia.
At Rockt he’s responsible for the development of the business, budgeting, marketing, finding investors, development of the Rockt platform, in one word: Everything, hence Chief Everything Officer.
Sergio Perreira — Chief Technology Officer
Sergio says Hello from Portugal!
Sergio has close to 10 years of experience in delivering technology-differentiated solutions across multiple industries. Prior to joining Rockt, he co-founded multiple successful technology projects. He served as CTO of FutureFuel.io, a student debt repayment Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform.
Additionally, he also serves as an independent innovation expert appointed by the European Commission since 2016. Sergio holds a Bachelor & Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
His job at Rockt is all about our tech! He’s our Blockchain specialist and responsible for the development of our platform and website.
Daniel Thomas — Chief Financial Officer
Daniel is a seasoned finance professional with over 10 years of experience in Private Equity & Investment Banking. Prior to joining Rockt as CFO, he co-founded Digital Capital Funds, an alternative investment vehicle focused on crypto assets.
Prior to that, Daniel held various management positions at 23 Capital, Jasmin Capital & Espírito Santo Investment Bank, where he helped clients raise capital in excess of €500 million. Daniel holds a Bachelor’s degree from American University (Washington D.C.) & MSc. in Financial Engineering from EMLYON Business School.
Daniel is our money guy, he’s hustling out there looking for early investors every day and when he’s in his home office, he focuses on our internal financial processes and structures.
Daniel is originally from France but now lives in beautiful Cambodia.
Fabian Dominguez — Chief Marketing Officer
Fabian is a Digital Marketing Expert, Growth Hacker and Entrepreneur with wide-ranging experience in different roles at some of the biggest companies in Switzerland. Prior to joining Rockt full time, he worked as Digital Marketing Consultant at a Performance Marketing Agency in the Swiss capital.
He studied Psychology at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences but later dropped out, which kind of makes him the black sheep of the Rockt family. :P
Fabian has been involved in the Blockchain space as crypto investor and marketing strategist for almost two years and is fluent in six languages.
Fabian’s parents are from Spain, but he was born and grew up in Switzerland.
Michael “Mike” Wheeler — Head of Business Development
Mike, our (second) resident Kiwi! He can often be found walking around saying ‘Sweet as, bro!’, and ‘Yeah, Nah’ — or was that ‘Nah, Yeah’?
As a seasoned veteran in sales & customer negotiations, Michael has enjoyed a wide range of roles in the tech space, including Cloud & Mobile Business Development Manager and Account Manager.
Prior to joining Rockt, he worked for Microsoft (Asia Pacific) within the customer advocacy space and as an Account Manager for a Microsoft Partner in the Cloud, working on A.I. aspects. Michael attended Auckland University of Technology and has a Diploma in Information Systems and Management.
At Rockt he’s responsible for our Community as well as looking for awesome partners to help take us to the next level.
Joaquin Bejar —Head of Data & Business Intelligence
Joaquín has close to 20 years of experience in IT Security and Data Science capable of developing advanced data insight into any business aspect.
Prior to joining Rockt, Joaquín served as a Senior Data Scientist at several High-End companies including Deutsche Bank and the Joint Research Center (EU).
Joaquín holds Bachelor Degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics and a Master’s in Big Data & Data Science from Universidad Internacional de Valencia.
As our in-house Data Wizard, Joaquín’s work focuses on everything that involves data from building trading indicators to analyzing investment strategies.
Joaquín is working on Rockt from sunny Madrid, Spain.
Ömer Güven — Senior Financial Advisor
Ömer is Investment Director at Fram^, a Swedish-Vietnamese Venture Builder and Accelerator in Asia.
He is an expert in the FinTech vertical and has extensive experience within the investment management industry, investment banking (M&A, ECM) as well as Cryptocurrency field. During his career, he has been an adviser to global clients (e.g. Goldman Sachs Asset Management) and other international Hedge Funds. Ömer holds a M.Sc. in Finance & Accounting and is working towards his CFA Designation.
Ömer is helping Rockt with his expertise in ICOs and all sorts of financial regulations. He’s a very valuable advisor that has been with us from the beginning.
Originally from Turkey, Ömer grew up in Germany and now lives in Vietnam.
Tammy Smith — Human Resources Manager
Tammy grew up on the sunny beaches of Sydney before moving to the coffee capital of Australia — Melbourne.
She has worked in Human Resources with some of Australia’s largest companies in telecommunications, property and investment.
She is currently working towards her MBA at the Australian Graduate School of Management (University of New South Wales).
At Rockt she is responsible for all things People & Culture. She knows what makes people tick and is looking to get the best out of everyone.

Joris Sewandono — UX & Interaction Designer
Joris is a highly experienced UX and Interaction Designer with a background in working for big corporations as well as well-known startups. With over 20 years of experience he has been able to work with clients such as Wells Fargo, Logitech, Visa or just prior to joining Rockt, Intuit. Joris holds a Masters Degree in Interaction Design from the University of Portsmouth.
At Rockt he’s responsible for making our platform beautiful, making sure that we can provide our users with a world-class, effortless experience, which is one of the many problems we’re aiming to solve for cryptocurrency traders.
He grew up in Amsterdam, Netherlands but later moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in California.
