SPIN — Scientists and Precarious researchers Independent Network. We are a group of scientists. Not feeling the need to define the exact meaning of this word, we have begun to meet to talk, study and try to do science in the job space, in the academia, in politics, in society. We believe that, today, the scientific discourse is key, and extremely rich; yet, we also believe that there is the lack of an ample reflection, non-academic and non-exclusive to “specialists”, on where science is headed and what are the palpable, political, daily effects of research. How is the scientific community organized? How much do those who produce research gain, and under which pressures? Which productive model is adopted? And, what relations do all of this bear to technological development, to the meaning of “science”, and to future discoveries? // E-mail: spin.scinetwork@gmail.com
