SaaSBooMi 2020 — Day 2
Chennai, Jan. 25, 2020
Your day begins a bit earlier than most other participants, with the Investor Meeting. You had earlier applied to participate in the meeting, and as luck would have it, the VC also expressed interest to meet up with you and talk more about your product.
Thanks to a fruitful conversation that gave you a valuable peek into the investor mind (and possibly even a potential funding source), your Day 2 is indeed off to a great start.
Vinod Muthukrishnan (Ex-CloudCherry) and Ashish Tulsian (Posist) officially kick off Day 2, with a quick overview of what’s planned for the rest of the event.
Godard Abel, CEO of G2 (Previously G2Crowd), delivers a State of the Union-esque address about the global SaaS ecosystem, its current and evolving trends, and the role played by the Indian SaaS ecosystem in it.
It’s worth noting that as you read this, over 3M people visit G2.com to share authentic reviews about thousands of software products and professional services. We’re talking 1,006,600+ reviews that help millions of businesses make better buying decisions — and reach their full potential.
Thanks to Godard’s discourse, you gain the much-needed big-picture view of where the SaaS industry is headed, across markets and globally.
Time to get those inspirational juices flowing. Ankit, the Co-founder and CTO of Postman talks about his journey of building Postman, how he scaled it, and what he had to go through along the way, while Ashish from Posist manages the session. You witness a realistic account of a founder’s story straight from the SaaS trenches.
Nitesh from HiverHQ and Kanti Prabha SirionLabs present a session managed by Sunil Patro from SignEasy, on building a GTM strategy around your particular user and buyer persona. You take a deep-dive into various GTM strategies, and the framework to create multiple personas and build products that appeal to each of those personas.
You take a coffee-break, to chew over and reflect on your learnings so far. And of course, to treat yourself to some piping hot South Indian filter coffee to fuel your remainder of the day.
You are on your third head of sales and are missing your forecast, again. What can you do to turn the tide? Rajan Anandam from Sequoia gives you just the solution you need, in his 45-minute session.
Sparsh from Wingify talks about the SaaS metrics of operational excellence. The session, managed by Ankit from AdPushup, gives you a clear overview of the various SaaS metrics that you need to track at different stages of your business. You learn about how to benchmark your growth and build operational excellence depending on the specific stage you’re at.
You head over to the dining area for a wholesome lunch and networking experience.
Back in the event hall, commences the session on building a fast-growing profitable business, while being scrappy. It’s presented by Hari Kannan from ScaleFusion and Sakshi Tulsian from Posist, and managed by Prasann from Upekkha. This session particularly catches your eye, as you’d earlier learned that it is designed specifically for bootstrapped entrepreneurs and those who are looking to scale without spending much money.
Up next is Vinod Muthukrishnan, who gives an insightful talk on building partnerships from day one of your SaaS startup.
“A Stairway to Heaven: Steps to go from a SaaS startup to a $10B megabrand” — Chandar Pattabhiram, CMO of Coupa, talks about how to his team scaled his way to success and the lessons, frameworks, and tools that helped them to pull it off.
The crowd breaks for coffee, cookies, and conversations. (Tea is available too, don’t fret.)
Girish from Freshworks delivers the much-awaited closing keynote on building a global SaaS company from India. He shares his Freshworks playbook wrapped in an awe-inspiring story, aptly titled as “All constraints are internal”. As he finishes his speech, you find yourself thinking about how there couldn’t be a better way to end the incredible event.
Ashwini from MadStreetDen presents the vote of thanks, followed by the networking snacks and drinks. You leave the Sheraton Grand Resort with a head full of ideas and a heart full of inspiration.
And that concludes the verbal simulation of your two-day immersive and enriching learning experience at SaaSBooMi 2020.
