I like to see myself as an all-seeing, all-knowing eye. If you’ve seen The Fate of The Furious, you may have an idea of what I’m referring to but even if you don’t, you’ll get the gist. However, my Omniscience, in this case, is limited to SafeBoda.

Months of observation have led to this piece I’m about to share with you. As your loyal friend, here is my guide to understanding the SafeBoda App as a Customer.

  1. Getting started: To be a part of the Okada Geng, you simply have to download the app from either Apple store or Playstore depending on your OS. The next step is registration. You type in your phone number, get your One-Time Password (OTP), type that in and you’re done. Here’s a detailed video to guide you. All that’s left is ordering your first ride.
  2. You have options: The SafeBoda Customer app affords you the option to either request a ride or pair with a visible rider. When you’re ordering a ride, you can do that from the comfort of your home and still get matched, but the Pair feature makes it easier for you when you spot a rider close to you. For the Pair feature to work, you have to be at least 50m close to the rider. So you click on “Pair”, insert the rider’s SB number, and get matched instantly.
  3. No Cashless, why?: The SafeBoda app only accepts payments in cash at the moment but (whispers you didn’t hear it from me sha) we are looking to implement wallet payments by September, Sssshhh, don’t tell anybody.

UPDATE (21/06/21): YOU CAN NOW GO CASHLESS ON THE SAFEBODA APP AND BUY AIRTIME AS WELL. See more details here

4. Coverage Areas: SafeBoda is currently available in Ibadan, Oyo state and the areas we cover include: Federal School of Statistics, Sasa, Apata (just past Bembo Rd), Ring Road, Molete Market, Oluyole, Elebu Market, Challenge, Tollgate, Felele Road, Bodija, New Bodija, Eleyele, UI, Ijokodo, Sango, Agodi, UCH, Bashorun/Gate, Mokola, Jericho, Poly.

5. Complaints? Here’s what to do: As expected, you will have complaints at some point and we are here to help. When you encounter any issues, feel free to reach out to our Support Team on 017006220 or send a DM on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram. My guys are quick to provide assistance so don’t be shy to reach out.

There you have it! If this guide isn’t explanatory enough, you can ask your questions on any of the platforms listed above. We are here to help.
