One of our goals as a company is to support the growth of Atlanta’s tech and startup communities. Our product and engineering teams are deeply rooted in our local communities. So many of us met at local startups, hackathons, and meetups before becoming Lofters. And several members of our team have gone further, giving back to the community as thought leaders.

I met one of our Product Managers and our VP of Engineering, Brian Culler, who recently described valuable lessons learned in maintaining quality at scale, at a previous startup. I met our Head of Product and Director of Product Design as we mentored at a hackathon focused on solutions for gentrification. As you may have seen in our last post, Peter Finn, one our UI Engineers, started the Atlanta Vue.js Meetup. Several of our architects, including Steve Bussey, who detailed the technical approach behind version 2.0 of our API in October, are frequent speakers at the Atlanta Elixir Meetup. Several of our team speaks at major local conferences, including Connect.Tech and We RISE Tech. And yours truly started the Atlanta network of Women Who Code in 2013.

These communities are part of our DNA.

SalesLoft continued this trend as we hosted Women Who Code Atlanta’s January meetup. This month’s topic was particularly popular for those looking to level up in their career and share their lessons learned with this engaged and thoughtful audience. Women Who Code gathered an amazing panel of engineers and engineering leaders in various stages of their careers to discuss how mentorship has shaped them and how they’ve learned to maximize mentor relationships.

Watch as moderator and Women Who Code Director, Beth Laing, guides the conversation from the importance of mentorship, to how mentors and sponsors can change the trajectory of your career, to the reasons male allies are especially valuable mentors to women in tech. Learn how these six technologists built a team of mentors that helped them map and excel in their careers.
