Capturing Our Journey of Building a Company Together

Lele and I have decided to establish a marketing strategy management company and record how we do that.

Last week, I wrote a post that we are setting up a boutique agency for emerging tech companies. In this post, I laid out the short plan on what will I do now that I have taken leave from Robotex. One part of which includes my wife and I starting a business together.

I am happy that this post got a lot of supportive feedback from various people who would love to co-operate with us. Some of whom see us as an excellent partner to build their business further. Others who would love to recommend our services to their existing clients. And many more who are our friends and back us in everything.

Since then, we have started to map our exact action plan. This includes answering questions like why does a company need an outside marketer. What are their biggest pains when onboarding such a partner at the moment? How could we help them ease the process and what services would they need from us? And what will be our onboarding procedure once we find those in need?

On one side, these are important questions to ask from ourselves. On the other side, the answers and the journey forward could also be interesting for others. That said, we decided to start recording our development, and potential growth.

Our plan forward…

When we first talked about the idea to set up a company together, Lele insisted that we would write up a concrete plan. Although I have always loved to shoot first, then Lele wants to do stuff right from the get-go. Thus we decided to start by mapping our exact procedures. And then testing them on my parent’s interior design company — Palazzo. After which we could start onboarding our first real clients.

So for the next week or so, we will be writing down the plan of how we want our agency to run. Deciding on the basic principles that we will be following and the tools that we will be using. After that, we will test those assumptions to bring more business to Palazzo. Most likely adjusting some of the procedures after all that. Testing them again. And then going out to find the first clients that need the marketing management service.

Of course, all this could move much faster, as there are some companies who have already asked for our help. But we rather decided not to work on branding ourselves before we have the procedures locked.

That said, I will be writing posts to record our journey of finding those answers. With the main purpose to afterwards analyse our thoughts and actions. But also giving us an opportunity to create potential marketing materials in advance. Meanwhile, all the readers can, of course, take those thoughts and use ’em to build their businesses.

All of this will also tell another story. A story on how Lele and I are building a company together. And thus regardless of how interesting marketing is for you, the journey still might be fun to follow. Let’s see!

If you loved any of this and want some more, then let me know what you’d like me to write about via my Newsletter, Twitter, LinkedIn or Facebook.
