By the time you are reading this, the description under my name on medium.com might have changed to something more meaningful, like — Awarded writer and collaborator blah blah blah! — Even if that's not the case, but it no longer reads what it does today, here is a transcript for eternity.

" English is not my first language. That being said, I have a gut feeling compelling me to share my thoughts and with the world. Enjoy! " — Diego Moura

What has been bothering me is that first sentence "English is not my first language". Like I pointed out in another article I wrote, self-doubt, more than once have kept me from writing. As in the title of this other article and the description under my profile, I start by excusing myself to you dear reader. Even before had published a single line of the written word, I doubt myself.

The many times I consciously opt out on writing for not believing in my writing skills scares me, even more, are the unconscious times I didn't even realize I missed an opportunity. So!

If you like me are not yet confident in your English skills, either use too much or not enough commas, have trouble spelling "speeling", "spealling." Just write. You won't get better by wondering how it could have been starting that blog idea one year ago.

Leverage all tools and all people in your learning journey. Here on Medium, you can read the work of great writers, cause — Yes! Reading is fundamental — . Join in a community like The Writing Cooperative, on their Slack, was where I first got my work critiqued and to my surprise, it was positive feedback. Grammarly helps a ton, but don't get too comfortable, study, practice and write, write, write!

Ditch self-doubt, embrace your flaws and don't be afraid to fail. Just commit to putting 100% work on everything you do and I'm sure you're going to reach your goals. Tag along, clap, share, follow me! Let's learn together.

By the way, it's 5:47 am. It took me exactly 47 min to write this piece, not bad for an English illiterate, eh?
