I Make 500$/Month Passive Steady Income with my Mobile App in 2021

It didn’t become a fast-growing hot startup but it is still inspiring me

Intimassy the Love Diary app lets you track sexual activities and gives you statistics about your private life for better sexual life.

I published my app on Android almost 3 years ago and just a couple of months ago on iOS. It became steady in downloads and income after 4 months from publishing. I mean, I've earned around 500$/month for almost 3 years at no cost.

Of course, I thought and tried to turn it into a real business by growing it a little bit more. But unfortunately, I am not able to publish any ad campaign because Google thinks my app is for adults and doesn’t let me publish ad campaigns. Because of this situation, it grows with the fully organic acquisition. The average number of downloads for a day is changing between 50–250.

It didn't become a fast-growing hot startup but it is still inspiring me.

I received more than 900 emails from my users up to now. Apart from the emails, I received more than 700 messages by using the contact us page within the app.

Some of them were asking for new features, some of them were complaining about something. I improved the app according to all these feedbacks and requests from my users.

Whenever a user sends me an email which is asking for a translation to his/her own language, I answered him/her with a request for help for the translation. The results were amazing: My app is translated into 9 different languages by its own users!

I answered all the emails by myself. When I don't speak the language, I use Google Translate. When I couldn't help the user, I gave in-app purchase items as a gift to satisfy them. In the end, the rating and comments were pretty okay for an app that is developed and maintained by a single developer:

I want to end this article with an interesting and inspiring email I received 2 years ago:

One of my users sent me a friendly email. He wanted to thank me for developing this app. I replied with my best regards and I wanted to continue talking to hear some customer insights and it totally paid off. He was 92 years old young-spirited man. He developed almost the same app with Microsoft Excel 10 years ago. He offered to send the excel file to me for inspiring me with new features. I was shocked, the excel had more functions than my mobile app and it was keeping all the data in very structured columns and rows, it was showing all the statistics on fancy excel graphs.

He also told me the story about his inspiring partnership. They were 2 male partners and they were together for almost 50 years and according to their statistics on the excel sheet, they had sex more than 15000 times in that 50 years -300 times in a year-. He was talking about his partner in full of love even in emails!
