Hello team Self-ish!

2018 has brought quite a lot of changes to the publication. We went from almost a year of silence to a whole new format and a great new team.

Many of you might be feeling a little lost and confused. Kamga Tchassa tries to create a bridge between old and new in his piece Self-ish is back!

The New Vision

It’s simple really;

And that you, dear African child, can tell those stories the world longs to read. Stories about love, and loss, about work, about growing-up, about parenting, about learning, about money. About mental health. About more. T.K

because it’s time Africa found her voice in this space, through every distinct, authentic story.

The New Team

New kids on the block to inject some fresh blood. Kamga will be taking a step back to a more advisory role as he focuses on other projects. My humble self, Ameaka Nkempu has taken over as Chief editor with Bate-Epey Ebai Tarkang and Awanto Margaret as amazing sidekicks.

What’s on the Menu…

We’ve been up and about for a month now and we have some brilliant pieces to showcase. Below are a few of our favorites I’m sure you’ll enjoy:

and many more. The stories and pieces are as diverse as they are enriching. New Pieces up every Saturday.

This week, we shall be publishing stories inspired by ‘The Spirit of Christmas’ to honor the season. You won’t want to miss it.

Personal. Authentic. Black.
Telling African Stories, one Youth at a time.

I wanna sing, I wanna shout
I wanna scream till the words dry out
So put it in all of the papers,
I’m not afraid
They can read all about it
Read all about it…

Emeli Sande, ‘Read All About It’

Until next time!
