#10. You’re doing your own marketing.
Do you own a marketing company? If the answer is NO, you shouldn’t be doing your own marketing. Focus on your core business and leave marketing to a professional.

#9. You haven’t identified at least 2 ideal client persona profiles.
If you have no idea what “client persona” means, nor do you have a firm grasp of how your ideal customer gathers information, or the semantics they use, you need a professional to do your marketing. As a business owner, you should refer to your perfect persona every day to remember how you serve this person.

#8. You do anything and everything to get the word out.
There’s a method called, “throw spaghetti against the wall and see what sticks.” In this digital era, you can keep your pasta on the plate. There’s a unique person out there that wants your solution. Hone in on interlocking strategies that reach and connect with them.

#7. You don’t have a marketing budget.
Create a budget, start small if you have to. Stick to it, and increase it as your business grows. Don’t look at marketing as overhead. Marketing is an investment. (also a business expense that may be a tax write off!)

#6. You aren’t analyzing the data.
When you market correctly, you are collecting a wealth of information. Be sure you have someone who knows how to spot and interpret patterns to create action based on your data!
