Anatomically the brain is a highly complex organ. It combines biochemicals like hormones, neurotransmitters, enzymes, gene expressions, and constant electrical signals. These activities happen without our conscious awareness. But we feel their effects as emotions influencing our behavior.

The complex interrelationships of multiple systems make the brain an adaptable organ. It can perform these functions and respond to challenges from the internal and external world.

How can so many biochemicals and electrical signals work harmoniously without our intervention, allowing us to survive and thrive? We still don’t know the precise answer. However, we have some ideas as hypotheses developed by neuroscientists, psychologists, and cognitive scientists.
