If you’re a fan of Peanuts cartoons, then the holiday season is not complete without a viewing of A Charlie Brown Christmas*. While the show clearly covers the religious meaning of the holiday that viewers would expect, it also has commentary on love that can be used all year ‘round. The following are five love lessons you can learn from the show.

Love Makes You Want to Adapt

The Peanuts gang is out enjoying the fresh snow by throwing snowballs at a can on the fence, diligently trying to knock it over. When all of his friends fail, Linus expertly wraps a snowball in his trusted security blanket and gets the job done. Of course, Linus faces some criticism from his sister, and in typical Lucy fashion, she taunts him with, “You think you’re so smart with that blanket! What are you gonna do with it when you grow up?” Linus loves his blanket and he knows he won’t be able to part with it — even in adulthood — but he is open to change. “Maybe I’ll make it into a sport coat,” is his reply.
