Does your partner prefer to avoid family gatherings during the holidays? Do you think it’s because they have a Scrooge streak in them or they’re just an all-around grouchy Grinch?

That may not be the case at all.

While the holidays are a time for us to get together with loved ones, sometimes we’re just not feeling the love. Not necessarily because we don’t want to spend quality time with them, but more because we’re tired of the annual holiday interrogations family members tend to subject us to.

In a study of 2,000 people conducted by Samsung KX, 33 percent admitted they dread the conversations that come up with their relatives during the holidays and 57 percent said they find these talks particularly annoying because the same uncomfortable topics rear their ugly heads every single year.

And what are the general topics people want to avoid most?

  • Sex (40 percent)
  • Love life (31 percent)
  • Politics (29 percent)
  • Money (28 percent)
  • Career (15 percent)
