Thinking about having sex with someone new should be exciting — in a good way. But for some people, the racing heart they feel at the thought of being with a new partner isn’t caused by the anticipation of pleasure they expect to experience. Instead, the thought of being with someone new is anxiety inducing because of all the things that could go wrong during a sexual encounter.

According to a survey of 2,000 people by Pure Romance, 56 percent experience anxiety before having sex with a new partner. And what is making them feel this way? Men reported that these are their top worries about sex with someone new:

  • Not being able to please their partner (55 percent)
  • Not being able to last long enough (47 percent)
  • Not being able to give their partner an orgasm (40 percent)
  • Their body not being attractive enough to their partner (31 percent)
  • Whether or not they will contract…
