Middle school teacher filmed breaking broom on students’ butts for skipping class

After skipping class to play basketball, a group of middle school students in Liaoning province were recently beaten with a broomstick by their teacher in the hallway until the broom finally broke.
This instance of extreme corporal punishment was filmed by one of the 13 male students being punished and then uploaded online, where it has gotten the teacher into serious trouble.
The school said that it has suspended the teacher from both his teaching and administrative duties. It added that none of the students suffered any injuries by being beaten with a broom.
Earlier this week, a kindergarten teacher in Ningxi was fired from her job for slapping kids, along with a coworker who filmed the beatings.
It’s not clear when overly-disciplinary teachers will become aware of the power of cell phone cameras.
