The Latest updates from the SingularityNET Ecosystem, including the Decentralized Governance Summit and Supervisory Council Ideation, new Neural-Symbolic LLM “Zarqa” and Consensus news…

Greetings Singularitarians,

We are excited to bring you all the news from SingularityNET and the Ecosystem from April!

Exciting progress is happening across the projects, we had a significant presence at Consensus, and the message of the decentralization of AI is gaining momentum and enthusiasm in the global narrative. We also hosted our first Decentralization Summit, gathering leaders in the decentralization space, as well as experts in our own organization and ecosystem, to discuss the next critical steps of decentralizing SingularityNET itself. As Ben pointed out, building on blockchain isn’t sufficient to be ‘decentralized’; ownership of the platform by the global community through a DAO is critical to true decentralization. And until that happens, SingularityNET has not achieved its mission.

To that end, our first step in this decentralizing initiative is outlining the future role of the Supervisory Council so that elections can be held. This critical body will play an intermediary role between the Foundation and the future decentralized body — and the community's input on the form and function of this council will begin to define the ultimate organization.

Please read the blog about the in-progress Supervisory Council governance action, and join the ideation portal to review community input and share your perspective.

We look forward to hearing your contributions!

Consensus 2023

SingularityNET was well represented at the Consensus 2023 crypto conference in Austin, Texas at the end of April. Ben Goertzel and Janet Adams, CEO and COO of SingularityNET, were joined by many of the ecosystem projects — Cogito CEO Cloris Chen, SingularityDAO Co-Founders Marcello Mari and Mario Casiraghi of SingularityDAO, and Kennedy Schaal CEO of Rejuve.Bio. The attendees represented SingularityNET and the ecosystem at a variety of events and appearances to broaden awareness of the importance of decentralized AI and the opportunities for AI and blockchain to amplify one another.

  • Must-watch — Ben’s Panel, with Edward Snowden, on AI and Data Privacy:
Panel: What the AI Explosion Means for Data Privacy, with Edward Snowden and Ben Goertzel

Dr. Ben Goertzel joined Edward Snowden, the President of the Freedom of the Press Foundation, for an insightful panel exploring “What the AI Explosion Means for Data Privacy.” During the discussion, Ben shared his perspective on the growing influence of technology giants like Google data privacy. He noted that while governments may have access to large databases, big tech possesses the technological prowess to harness this data.

Despite this observation, both Ben and Snowden remained optimistic about the future. They laid out a vision for a future in which AI technologies are developed in a decentralized manner, with individuals and communities having greater control over their data and how it’s used. Ben referred to this as a future of “sousveillance,” a term coined by David Brin in his book “The Transparent Society.”

  • Community at Consensus — SingularityNET-Cardano Meetup:
SNET-Cardano Meetup at Consensus — Big Pay, Marcello Mari, Ben Goertzel, Cloris Chen, Mario Casiraghi

SingularityNET and the Ecosystem had the pleasure of co-sponsoring a SingularityNET-and-Cardano community meetup hosted and live-streamed by Big Pey and Atrium Lab during Consensus 2023. Ben and Janet took the stage to update and share highlights of our collaboration with Cardano and discuss some of our ambitious AI development plans.

Ben was later joined by Cloris, Marcello, and Mario for a panel on the “Future of DeFi” to explore the synergies between AI and DeFi and how they could help democratize wealth management. The panelists also discussed the immense potential of Cogito and SingularityDAO and how they can revolutionize the decentralized financial landscape using SingularityNET-powered AI.

The meetup had an enthusiastic turnout of community members at the live event, and the live stream was well attended — and recorded so that everyone can have a taste of the experience!
