September shadows: Cannons of time’s passage

September, a month close to my heart — whispers of transition, shadows stretch and grow, as the sun dips lower, hinting at autumn’s gentle, golden glow, celebrations, nostalgia and beginnings.

This is my birth month too and I, like a delighted, exuberant, happy-go-lucky li’l girl, love to make the most of it.

Coincidentally, my husband’s, a handful of my relatives and friends’ birthdays also fall in September💖🙏💐!

When Mary comes up with the prompt, I fondly remember that sometime back, I’ve written a post on Shadows and that’s for SWPSC’s Freestyle category.

September, a cherished chapter in my life’s story — slight nip in the air, changing color of leaves and memories woven into its pastel fabric.

During one of our pleasure trips to the magnificent Mehrangarh Fort, Jodhpur, Rajasthan, a few September-s back, my son yelled (giggling), “Maa, here comes another stilt-walker”!

I, engrossed in capturing the cannons and Jodhpur City from the top of the majestic fort, couldn’t mark his words. He noticed that.

As soon as I finished a bunch of clicks and was up for another set with husband, my son grabbed me by my shoulders, pulled me and finger-pointed toward the shadows we ‘made’.

What did we notice?

We could ‘see’ shadows stretching across the cannons — shadows resembling stilt-walkers —as if we were amidst a bustling carnival, where laughter and music filled the air, and with legs seemingly endless, we strode through the colorful chaos.

We could ‘hear’ cannons roaring, marking moments in history, echoing the relentless march of time. Their thunderous cadence reminded us that time, like a cannon’s blast, remained both powerful and inexorable, shaping our world.

The shadows became longer, more pronounced, stretching across the cannons and into the mellowed embrace of that early autumn evening.

The amazing ‘almost full’ moon appeared, too, on the horizon — a reminder that even as days grew shorter, Mother Nature remained full of wonder.

Love, warmth and eternal peace to all… 💐🙏♾️🧿🍂
