It is not far enough behind.
Perhaps I loved it all too much. The lake house retreat I thought was “ours.” In hindsight, I see now how it was always really just his. It’s been a few years since the divorce when I relinquished my rights to the lakeside family retreat. Yet still, I have occasional pangs of wishing I could be there.
