It starts with a question. The implication is always that the end will be an answer or provide one.
Difficult it is when life or art does not provide resolution. When it starts with a question and ends with another.
To be surprised by life is a good thing, but this was a bit more than he expected.
A first meeting, perhaps a date, uncertain, driver taking passenger to passenger’s home.
Stopped before the house, parked but engine running. Passenger turns toward the driver…
“are you attracted to me or are we just mutually interesting?”
Driver’s hands do not leave the wheel.
My hand reaches out, touches nothingThe emptiness fills my mindMy fingers desire more than thisMy heart no longer mine
Is it the wind or rain that brings relief? My brow sweat rivulets running downThe hangman’s card lays here to seeI wonder what it means for me
We could go as fast as they doBut we do not wish to do so.Rather sit and watch them go byWatch the wind race through the trees. We could go that fast…
Note: this is an example of what I mean by starting this; Samuel Clemens wrote a whole book of aphorisms on scraps of paper. This is one of mine.
