Here comes another review of a movie we got to see in our local Sneak Preview and I am writing about Only The Brave [IMDb, Trailer (YouTube)].

This week was a first for our Sneak Preview group: Our cinema actually had picked a horror — or at least horror-ish — movie called Winchester [IMDb, Trailer (YouTube)].

Our year started off strong in terms of the Sneak Preview with Wind River [IMDb, Trailer (YouTube)], Taylor Sheridan’s second movie. While it originally premiered at the Sundance festival a year ago, it only now slowly arrives in cinemas here in Germany.

Take a misfit teacher, a small Swiss town, football, a stupid snap decision, bad luck, a really desperate idea, mix everything together and you get: Streaker [IMDb, Trailer (YouTube, German)], or “Flitzer” in German.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that our cinema showed the super depressing Darkland last time in the Sneak Preview, but I thought that this week’s movie — Home Again [IMDb, Trailer (YouTube)] — was quite delightful.

When I hear about Scandinavian cinema, I immediately think of movies like In China They Eat Dogs [IMDb], The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo [IMDb], The Green Butchers [IMDb] or Adam’s Apples [IMDb]. All of them are either known for their bluntness, an excessive amount of unconcealed violence or just…

We saw Logan Lucky [IMDb, Trailer (YouTube)] today. When you just look at the facts, this movie has quite a lot going for it. The director, Steven Soderbergh, is known for Ocean’s Eleven and the sequels. Those — especially the first one — were very entertaining and genuinely amusing movies…
