How To Find Your Business’ Page on Facebook (Even If You Don’t Think You Have One)

“But my business isn’t on Facebook.”

If I had a dime for every time I heard that I would be a rich, rich man.

If I had a dime for every time I found that person’s business on Facebook after hearing those words I would be twice as rich.

Social media has given customers more control over businesses than they have ever had. This includes the ability to tag businesses in comments, privately message companies or even create pages for local stores on platforms that the store owners aren’t even involved in.

How can that happen? Why are the customers given that kind of power?

Facebook was created to increase meaningful interactions between people. When a customer visits their favorite pizza place, Facebook wants them to be able to share their experience with their friends and family members.

Not all businesses are on Facebook, but it’s only a matter of time before a Facebook user wants to check in at your place of work or leave a review. Once they do, Facebook let’s them enter in your address, business name, phone number or any other information they want to share with the world. At that point, your business has a page on Facebook and everyone can see it.

You NEED to be able to find these pages to monitor your reputation.

Here’s how you can do that.

If you don’t have a personal Facebook page set up, search “(Your Business Name) Facebook” on Google. You might have to input extra details like your zip code, city or state so that Google can find your page. In the results, your business should be on the first page.

If it doesn’t show up here, your business could be one of the rare few that does not have a Facebook page already created. In which case you should create your own right away so that you can maintain control!

If you do have a Facebook page, you can just search your business’ name in the search bar on Facebook. Your business will most likely show up in the “Pages” or “Places” tab. If it’s categorized as a “Page” that means that it has gone through Facebook’s verification process. If it’s in categorized as a “Place” that means that a user on Facebook has input information to create the business entity.

In the example below you can see that the business we are looking for is categorized as a place. Facebook goes on to describe why it is an unofficial page listed as a place.

If you still can’t find your business’ Facebook page it’s possible that it hasn’t been created yet. Make sure you’re searching for your business regularly, every 1–2 months so that if it does pop up you can stay on top of your reputation.
